J. Michael McGuire elected as a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers

DC/BALTIMORE, MD – June 30, 2014 J. Michael McGuire has been elected by the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers as a 2014 Fellow.  Election as a Fellow is the highest recognition by an attorney’s colleagues of sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence.

The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers was established in 1995 through an initiative of the American Bar Association.  It operates as a free standing organization recognizing those who, by long and outstanding service, have distinguished themselves as leaders in the field.   The mission of the College is, among other things, to promote achievement, advancement and excellence in the practice of labor and employment law, and to serve as a resource for labor and employment law knowledge, skills, experience and history to others.

Mr. McGuire, an honors graduate of the University of Maryland Law School, has represented employers nationally in labor and employment law litigation at Shawe Rosenthal since 1978.  His expertise includes representing management before the National Labor Relations Board in representation and unfair labor practice cases, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and arbitrating labor and employment disputes on behalf of management.  He previously served as Chair of the Labor & Employment Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, and was named Baltimore Employment Law-Management “Lawyer of the Year” for 2014 by The Best Lawyers in America 2014© and “Labor Law Management Lawyer of the Year 2012 – Maryland” by The Best Lawyers in America 2012©.  He is ranked in the top tier of labor and employment attorneys by Chambers USA:  America’s Leading Lawyers for Business (2007-2014 editions).
