Shawe Rosenthal Partner Liz Torphy-Donzella Interviewed on Baltimore City’s Ban the Box Legislation

 In News

The Real News Network televised a discussion between Employment Litigation Partner Liz Torphy-Donzella and Baltimore City Councilman Nick Mosby on legislation that would limit an employer’s access to criminal history about applicants for employment in the City.  The “ban the box” legislation, which Mosby sponsored, would ban questions about criminal history from employment applications (i.e. eliminate that “box” on the application), and delay any consideration of criminal history until after the employer makes a conditional job offer.  Torphy-Donzella explained why this would impose an unwarranted cost on employers and harm the City’s ability to attract and retain businesses.
