Maryland Sick And Safe Leave Law Takes Effect On February 11

The effective date of the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act has not been extended.  Although emergency legislation to extend the date will be considered on Tuesday in the Maryland House of Delegates, the law takes effect on Sunday, February 11.  Late in the day on February 9, the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations posted information on its website to help employers comply, including a model notice.  To access these materials, click here.  For specific questions on compliance, contact any Shawe Rosenthal attorney.
