E-Verify Records To Be Deleted 1/1/16 – Historical Records Available For Download Through 12/31/15 Only.

On January 1, 2016, E-Verify will delete records that are more than 10 years old; thus, as of that date, employers will no longer have access through E-Verify to records created on or before December 31, 2005.  Deletions will occur annually each January 1 thereafter.  Because these records may be critical during an I-9 audit in establishing an employer’s defense that it had confirmed the work authorization for an employee who is later found to be unauthorized, it is important for employers to download a historical report from E-Verify.  In addition, I-9 forms should be annotated with the E-Verify case verification number.  This report will only be available through December 31, 2015.
