Liz Torphy-Donzella quoted in The Daily Record
Liz Torphy-Donzella, a litigation partner of Shawe Rosenthal LLP, was quoted in The Daily Record article, “Attorneys: Starbucks’ ‘Race Together’ could bring legal trouble”, March 24, 2015. This article discusses the potential risk of employers encouraging employees to talk with customers about race in America. Liz observed, “[e]mployers are liable for ensuring that the workplace in which employees have to work every day is not infected with remarks or conduct that could be discriminatory. They’re inviting customers to have a dialogue with employees about race — about topics that are by definition controversial, deeply held and make people angry on both sides. That is not typically going to end well.”
