Shelby Skeabeck defends employers in employment-related matters, including in court and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other state fair employment practice agencies, as well as the Department of Labor. She also prepares employer handbooks and policies, affirmative action plans, and employment agreements, including non-competition and severance agreement. In addition, Shelby conducts training on various employment issues. She also advises employers on issues of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; recruitment and hiring; leave and other reasonable accommodations; wage-hour matters; and separation from employment. On behalf of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Shelby has also testified before the Maryland General Assembly on employment-related legislation.
Before joining Shawe Rosenthal, Shelby completed a fellowship in the Johns Hopkins Health System Legal Department, where she worked alongside in-house counsel on labor and employment matters for the various health system entities. She also worked in human resources as an employee relations specialist for one of the health system hospitals in Baltimore.
In law school, Shelby interned with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Philadelphia. Shelby also completed judicial internships with the Hon. Sue L. Robinson in the District of Delaware and with the Hon. Albert J. Snite, Jr. in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
